beyond the forest by IRCSS beyond the forest by IRCSS
A really really quick painting ^^ XD
I was kind of bored, and started to draw some lines and it ended up like that.

This is my second land scape so in terms of value, I am really happy with it (any constructive comments are welcome). The original resolution was 3000 in 1000, but I got bored half way so I didn't add any detail and didn't do any rendering, just the basic values, so I had to decrease the resolution. It took me around 1 hour to finish.

Please feel free to leave constructive comments so I can improve my work.

Hope you like it

I think it looks really good. Especially fading out the most distant parts of the islands, it creates a nice 3D effect. :)

The trees look kind of sparse but are still very dark in the front. Are they all under much taller trees or in some sort of cave? It's cool to have the dark trees on either side (it kind of adds to the strength of the frame) but since everything else is so well lit they look a bit out of place.

I wish I could visit this place...it looks awfully peaceful, like a great place to just sit and meditate ^_^

Amazing!
This looks EXACTLY like the place where you play volleyball in Streets of Rage Remake. xD

You've never played Streets of Rage? For real? You should definitely give the game a whirl. Streets of Rage Remake is basically a fan made game that has all the content (minus two minor characters, one ending and one song) from the original trilogy. It's absolutely amazing and you can keep playing it for hours and hours. It also has VS modes like the Volleyball and one on one modes. ^^

So to answer the question, yes. The game is immense fun! And no one should miss out on it!

Was that originally an Arcade game?

I'm actually unsure if it was released for arcades but I don't think they were. 1 and 2 were released for the Game Gear and the Megadrive while the third one was only released on the Megadrive. Streets of Rage Remake is free downloadable on the PC. :)

This is a great piece, especially for your second attempt at a landscape. I'd suggest going back in and adding detail!

Thank you. I would, whenever I get the time. There are lots of pieces which I wish to repaint. But these days if I have anytime for painting I usually paint a new piece so it's quite challenging to motivate myself to redo the older pieces when at any time painting a new piece dominates my decision making.

Really quick?
Are you sure, because this like it would've taken longer than 'quick'

well the sky is not really detailed, so 2 minutes to paint the sky 1 minute for the clouds. For the sea, it is just bunch of different value, hue and saturation here and there, 4 minutes. The beach consists of only two different color which are blended in the middle, 3 minutes. the jungle, paint one tree make a brush out of it, mess with the brush setting a bit and add the trees here and there, 2 minutes. for the fore ground paint the trunks and one branch of palm tree make another brush out of it and the add it here and there, do the same for the rest of silhouette that should take around 4 minutes. Lastly spend another 4 minutes adding texture here and there just to make it look better. Well a speed painting is around 1 or 1 and half hour, so is 20 minutes quick ? :D

Considering your artist comment.
This is well done, althought some kind of detail on the palm trees would have helped the image, it still works and looks good.
The only detail I would call to your attention is perhaps the water.
It looks too flat.
Other than that, this is good!

looks very nice, very serene, as for constructive critisism, while it looks good im a little bothered that the front is very detailed but the forest on the back is rather just green and vague instead of seeing more tree details, however it loks stunningly beautiful for just drawing some lines out of boredom :)

I like it, think you did well with the elements closer and further from the viewer. Making it all fade into white a bit also seems to work well :) I'm not good with landscapes myself so I don't really know if anything needs fixiing here. Maybe just get rid of the thicker black frame on the sides?
It gives me a feeling like I'm watching a film/playing a game where the hero walks out of the forest onto the beach :)
