I thought about making a virtual color pallet. The reason being, of course, not because it's prettier , but because I wanted a neutral background where I could mix colors and see their true values and relations. When I mix on top of the painting the whole color scheme distorts what I see in each color, but I hopped that if I have one constant background, I will get used to seeing colors for what they are, and also because it would provide me with a photoshop file already set up with layer adjustments and masks where I can instantly create a color scheme, and adjust it to my liking.
So far I have only done one painting with it but it has proved to be handy. Here is mine:
Give making your own a try and see if it goes with the way you paint or color.
